NEW YORK, NEW YORK - DECEMBER 30: Christine Duffy (L), President of Carnival Cruise Line, Jeffrey Straus (R), President of Countdown Entertainment, flip the giant ‘on’ switch illuminating and elevating the New Year's Eve Ball for a final test ahead of New Year’s Eve on December 30, 2021 in New York City. The Ball is covered with a total of 2,688 Waterford Crystal triangles and can display a palette of more than 16 million colors. On December 23rd, Mayor Bill de Blasio announced that New Year's Eve in Times Square will be limited to 15,000 socially distanced visitors that will be required to be fully vaccinated due to a rise in COVID-19 cases.
