Tourists take pictures of Monk Xuanzang's statue on the square of Giant Wild Goose Pagoda.
Xuanzang was a famous Chinese Buddhist monk who travelled alone to India in the seventh century during the early Tang dynasty, as a cultural and religion communicator between Tang and the region along the silk road. Giant Wild Goose Pagoda or Big Wild Goose Pagoda is a Buddhist pagoda located in southern Xi'an. It was built in 652 during the Tang Dynasty. In the pagoda preserves sutras and figurines of the Buddha that were brought to China from India by the Buddhist translator and traveler Xuanzang. In 2014, the Pagoda is listed as a World Heritage Site along the Silk Road by UNESCO.
