Driver Makes Lucky Escape Seconds Before Truck Is Smashed by Train

A truck driver made a lucky escape after his vehicle was struck by a train in Versailles, Ohio, on https://www.dailyadvocate.com/2024/02/07/train-v-vehicle-crash-in-versailles-causes-road-closure/ February 7 . Video from Isaiah Vanderhorst shows the semi-truck pulling up to the train tracks and then getting stuck at the crossing as he tries to reverse. The train driver can be heard sounding a horn in the distance as the truck driver leaps from the vehicle. Seconds later the train crashes into the truck, smashing the driver's compartment. Vanderhorst explained to Storyful he caught the accident purely by chance. "I was filming a train with an engine that had a special paint scheme on it, from a distance in the parking lot of a bank, when a semi had pulled onto the track too far, and was hit by an oncoming train," he said. The driver and passenger of the truck were able to escape the collision uninjured, and no injuries were reported from the crew of the train, according to https://www.dailyadvocate.com/2024/02/07/train-v-vehicle-crash-in-versailles-causes-road-closure/ local media . The debris from the crash spread over several feet into the parking lot area of a nearby bank, and it was unknown if any nearby vehicles were damaged from the debris, the report said. The area was to remain closed as authorities investigated the incident. (Footage by Isaiah David Everett Vanderhorst/Storyful via Getty Images UGC)
