The BBC releases a list of presenters and actors earning over £150,000, amid controversy over the gender pay gap

Chris Evans, The Radio Two and former Top Gear presenter earns at least 2.2 million pounds. The highest earning woman on the list is a long way behind. Strictly presenter Claudia Winkleman is paid up to 500 thousand pounds a year. And that's what is causing controversy. It turns out that two-thirds of the BBC's top paid stars are men. The Equal Pay Act was introduced in 1970, almost half a century ago, to ensure that men and women got equal pay for equal work. But the gap is still there, and not just in broadcasting.
