A Londoner captured the moment a cormorant wrestled with an eel just metres from a canal-side bar. Lucy Redman, 28, was enjoying a pint at Crate Brewery in Hackney Wick on Friday (July 18) when a cormorant suddenly emerged from the canal with a live eel in its beak. Lucy, who lives in Shoreditch, said: "I was sat right on the water's edge when this bird suddenly surfaced with an eel in its beak. "We all screamed! "It felt like a live nature documentary."
