Coral reefs are the one of earths most complex ecosystems, containing over 800 species of corals and one million animal and plant species. Here we see a shallow coral reef consisting of a Magnificent Anemone (Heteractis magnifica). It contains False Clown fish Anemonefish (Amphiprion ocellaris). The fish cleans parasites off the Anemone and in return uses its stinging polyps as protection from predators. A perfect demonstration of a symbiotic relationship. This is a typical display of animal behaviour that helps ensure the safety and survival of both species. Footage obtained at Bida Nok, Phi Phi islands, Krabi province, Thailand.
