The Chestnut Tiger (Parantica sita) butterfly is the only species in the Danaidae subfamily of butterflies (“Milkweed butterflies”) indigenous to the Japanese mainland. Characterized by the black and dark brown striped pattern on their wings, Chestnut Tigers (Parantica sita) are large butterflies with bodies measuring approx. 10 cm.
