The Altiplano or Andean Plateau , in west-central South America, lies mainly within Bolivian territory while a small northern parts in Peru and southern parts in Chile and Argentina. The Altiplano is an area of inland drainage of the central Andes with an average height of about 3,750 meters .The intense vulcanic and geothermal activity is the mainly responseble of the actual landscape of the whole Altiplano, that is really incredible. The Altiplano is rich of colored lakes , tall vulcanos and extended salt flat and various little desert.
Sajama National Park is Bolivia's oldest national park. The park lies within the Central Andean dry puna ecoregion. It features a spectacular Andean landscape, with elevations ranging from 4,200 to 6,542 meters (13,780 to 21,463 ft). It contains the snowy cone of the volcano Sajama, the highest mountain in Bolivia at 6542 meters.
