Seaside Village - stock photo
A June 2012 aerial photo of a seaside village with the majority of houses built on stilts over the water, outside of Kendari city, Southeast Sulawesi province, Indonesia. The water is protected from waves by a fringing coral reef, that provides sanctuary for small fishing boats. By land the village is serviced by a coastal road which separates the steep forested hills from the coastline. A patch of mangrove trees provide further protection from wind and waves.
