Przewalski’s horse - stock photo

It is a rare and endangered species of wild horse native to the steppes of Central Asia, being the last true wild horse remaining. Once it was extinct in the wild (in Mongolia). The last wild Przewalski's horses were seen in 1966. It has since been reintroduced to its native habitat in Mongolia at the Khustain Nuruu National Park, Takhin Tal Nature Reserve, and Khomiin Tal. Its species status is debated i.e whether it is a subspecies of the wild horse Equus ferris or its own subspecies Equus przewalskii.
