Place Stanislas is a classical-style square, located in the center Nancy, in the historic region of Lorraine, listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1983. The square was built by Stanisław Leszczyński (Stanislas in French or Stanislaus I - 1677-1766, King of Poland, Duke of Lorraine and Bar) between 1751 and 1755, under the direction of the architect Emmanuel Héré. The picture is a panoramic view of the South-East corner of the square, with the east entrance, one of the pavillon (housing several cafes) and the town hall. The Our Lady of the Annunciation (Notre-Dame-de-l’Annonciation) cathedral (historical monument) is visible in the background.
