Kelso Visitor Center: Mojave National Preserve: California, United States - stock photo

Kelso is a former defunct railroad depot and ghost town. The depot is now a visitor center at the Mojave National Preserve in San Bernardino County, California managed by the U.S. National Park Service. It was named after the railroad worker John H. Kelso, whose name was placed into a hat along with two other workers to decide the name of the town. The town was built in 1905 specifically as a railroad station along the rail line between Los Angeles and Utah.
