Shenyang, Liaoning, China - May 4, 2011: During the 1920s and 1930s, China fragmented into fiefdoms of various warlords. In the Northeast, centred on the city of Shenyang, was the warlord Zhuang Zuolin. He was the Warlord ruler of Manchuria from 1916 to 1928. He was also the dictator of the Republic of China from 1927 and 1928. He was killed by the Japanese who planted a bomb in a rail tunnel that distroyed Zhuang's train. His son, Zhang Xueliang took over as Warlord of Manchuria and later North China. Zhuang Zuolin built a two story mansion is Chinese style and his son built an additional mansion infront of his fathers following a European style.
