Walter Reuther Addressing Delegates at a Convention
(Original Caption) Walter Reuther, president of the United Auto Workers, is shown addressing the 1450 delegates from 141 national and international unions at the first convention of the merged CIO and AFL in the 71st regiment armory today. Reuther was president of the CIO before the merger. George Meany, who was president of the AFL is now president of the 16,000,000 member AFL-CIO. Mayor Robert Wagner is seated to the right of Reuther.
