380048 01: The U.S. Navy''s Submarine Rescue Chamber (SRC) is deployed from the deck of the MV Kendrick October 9, 2000 for a dive to the submerged Republic of Singapore submarine "Conqueror" in the South China Sea. During the submarine rescue exercise "Pacific Reach 2000," the SRC will dive to the ocean floor more than 200 feet below, dock on the "disabled" sub and practice evacuating sailors. In a real life rescue, the SRC could safely deliver 6 sailors per trip to the surface. This is the first multi-national submarine rescue exercise ever held in the Pacific Region and the first overseas deployment of the U.S. Navy''s SRC. "Pacific Reach 2000" is taking place approximately 200 miles off the coast of Singapore and includes submarines, support ships and additional submarine rescue units from Korea, Japan, Singapore and the United States.
