Gatling Gun
The Gatling gun was manufactured by Sir William Armstrong and Co. under instruction from a committee presided over by Colonel Wray R.A., C.B.. The committee was responsible for establishing the calibre of the gun and the nature and description of ammunition. The calibre of the Martini-Henry rifle was adopted, (0.45 inches), to enable assimilation of small arms and the gun. At the time of this engraving the gun was still undergoing modification.
