(Original Caption) The 32 year old son of the famed Notre Dame football coach Knute Rockne, William Rockne was shot after he reportedly broke into the home of a wealthy used car dealer in Wichita. No reason was given for his behavior. He underwent emergency operations soon after the incident. Above, Sheriff Ty Lockett, (Right) discussed the case with Rockne's mother Mrs. Bonnie Rockne, her sister Mrs. J. F. Dierick, (Left) of South Bend, Indiana, and Dr. D. M. Nigro, of Kansas City, Missouri, a life long family friend.
