A suspect in the disappearance of a young British girl in Portugal on Thursday accepted six-figure libel damages from a number of newspapers over allegations that he was involved in her abduction. Robert Murat, a property consultant who lives near the holiday apartment where Madeleine McCann vanished, accepted 600,000 pounds (757,000 euros, 1.2 million dollars) from 11 national newspapers over the claims, his lawyer said.
