NEW YORK, UNITED STATES: A student at the Trapeze School of New York is reflected in the sunglasses of instructor Jonathan Conant 03 October, 2002, in downtown Manhattan in New York City. The school is a 35-foot-high (11-meter-high) collection of rigging, nets and platforms that was set up two months ago on the New York waterfront. The school takes all comers and receives more than 100 inquiries a day, often from long-time New Yorkers who first stumbled across the outdoor rig while on their daily riverside jog. An introductory lesson costs 45 USD, and after a brief 20-minute session of ground work, students find themselves standing on a 25-foot-high (eight-meter-high) platform, gripping a trapeze bar, with just a safety harness.
