Kaltenborn, radio news commentator, who was attacked by Nazis because he did not salute a passing detachment of Nazi storm troopers carrying the Nazi flag in Berlin, returned to New York Sept. 11 on the S.S. Kungsholm. A protest lodged with the U.S. Consul General in Berlin resulted in an official apology by the German government.
