Washington, D.C.: President Eisenhower is shown as he delivered a message to the American people just before he left Washington last night for the "Big Four" conference in Geneva, Switzerland. He said that we must view the Geneva talks with "hope," adding that "pessimism never won any battle, in peace or in war." Mr. Eisenhower said that if a new spirit can be instilled into the leaders of the governments of the world, then the Geneva conference will make an unprecedented advance toward peace for mankind.
