A plane takes off from Mogadishu airport

A plane takes off from Mogadishu airport on 26 November, 2009 with two freelance journalists, one from Canada and the other from Australia, who were freed after 15 months in captivity in Somalia. Canadian Amanda Lindhout and Australian Nigel Brennan boarded a small private plane at Mogadishu airport shortly after arriving there with a big security escort made up of pro-government militia. The two were kidnapped by unknown gunmen on August 23, 2008 on the road leading from Mogadishu to Afgoye, 25 kms (15 miles) to the west, where they intended to visit displaced camps.
