Pillsbury Finalist with Young Daughter Looking in Oven

Clark, of Santa Maria, California, one of 100 finalists in the Pillsbury 80th Anniversary Grand National Baking Contest which opened yesterday in the Grand Ballroom of the Waldorf Astoria Hotel, brought her daughter Mary Katherine along to "supervise." Mrs. Clark is a housewife and radio commentator, and the recipe she brought with her was developed quite accidently. She lost her eyeglasses and couldn't see to read the recipe, so she whipped up one of her own. The family liked it, and promptly christened it "throw-together-oh-so-good cake." Ninety seven women and three men are hoping for honors in the $100,000 recipe contest.
