Royal New Zealand Air Force Encourages Women To Join Aviation Industry Through School To Skies Programme
BLENHEIM, NEW ZEALAND - APRIL 17: Moana Lamdin fromn Auckland works on an aircraft engine at the Woodbourne Airbase on April 17, 2019 in Blenheim, New Zealand. The RNZAF School to Skies programme offers 40 young women from around New Zealand the opportunity to spend a week at Base Woodbourne near Blenheim to learn about all aspects of the aviation industry. They get to fix aircraft (fixed wing and rotary wing), operate a flight simulator, plan a flight mission, build electronic components and learn more about engineering fundamentals. Science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) and aviation careers are still greatly under-represented by women in New Zealand. The School to Skies programme, now it its third year, aims to encourage women to join the industry through practical experience. (Photo by Phil Walter/Getty Images)
