Coins found in 149-year-old time capsule in Eutin

25 July 2023, Schleswig-Holstein, Eutin: Sven Radestock (l, Bündnis 90/Die Grünen), mayor of Eutin, and Jakob Paul Sperrle (M), city archivist and historian, examine a time capsule on the market square in the presence of numerous onlookers. The capsule was discovered during construction work under the memorial from 1875, which is in need of renovation. The capsule contained a newspaper as well as five coins, including a presumed lucky penny, an 1871 Victory Stamp with the likeness of Prussian King Wilhelm (commemorative coin for the Franco-Prussian War of 1871) and a 1-pound silver Victory Stamp from 1867.
