KRALJEVA SUTJESKA, BOSNIA AND HERCEGOVINA: Ivana Juric, 7, places flowers on the recently unveiled monument to last Bosnian queen, Katarina Kosaca, 28 October, 2005 in the central Bosnian village of Kraljeva Sutjeska. The life story of Bosnia's last queen, who is still honoured in this tiny rural town despite dying more than 500 years ago, reflects the way history is used nowadays for opportunistic politics in the divided country. Bosnian Croat politicians portray Katarina as proof of the country's Catholic origins, Muslims present her as a symbol of Bosnia's lasting statehood, while Orthodox Serbs empathise with her for the way she lost her children to the Ottomans.
