CHOWCHILLA, CA - JUNE 18, 2024: Huddled in a circle in a drab classroom at the Central California Women's Facility in the middle of June, two dozen prisoners were talking about trauma and how it helped put them behind bars on June 18, 2024 in Chowchilla, California. Many raised their hands when asked if they experienced domestic violence.
