(Original Caption) 8/7/1945-Hiroshima, Japan: Here is a reconnaissance view of the Japanese Army base at Hiroshima, which was the first enemy target to feel the devestating weight of the new Atomic bomb. A quartering depot, Hiroshima was a large ordanance industrial center and has a population of more then 318,000. Reports of the atomic bomb blast have not been revealed, since reconnaissance planes reported the targer area still heavily veiled by smoke and dust clouds.
