Haitians face riot police as they demons
Haitians face riot police as they demonstrate near the presidential palace in Port-au-Prince on May 17, 2010 against President Rene Preval's decision to extend his presidential mandate by three months to May 14, 2011. Haiti's government proposed on May 6 extending Preval's term by three months in the event the quake-devastated country cannot conduct elections planned for later this year. The move comes with election plans in doubt with Haiti still reeling from the January 12 earthquake that killed between 250,000 and 300,000 people and left another 1.3 million homeless.
