Goreme Open Air Museum In Cappadocia
Göreme Open Air Museum in Cappadocia, in Nevsehir province in Central Anatolia, Turkey. It is a monastic complex with very well preserved carved churches in the volcanic rocks. Churches are dated back to the 10th century and nowadays it is a UNESCO world heritage site. The wider area was built from Greeks in order to be protected from fights in the past. Until 1923 Greeks still lived here. The churches here are famous for the frescoes but famous are also the well known fairy chimneys, that are volcanic rock formation in a high conic shape.
