Ex-Guantanamo Bay Detainees

KABUL, AFGHANISTAN - FEBRUARY 2, 2009: Former Guantanamo inmate Omar Madani, 35, who is from Kunduz originally, but emigrated to Saudi Arabia 30 years ago, is pictured on February 2, 2009 in Kabul, Afghanistan. He was in Guantanamo Bay prison for 6-and-a-half years. According to his testimony, he decided to go to Afghanistan in July 2001, 3 months before the attack on the World Trade Center. As he attempted to travel to Pakistan the border was blocked so he went over the Tora Bora mountains and was arrested by Pakistani military and taken to Kohat prison in Pakistan. Then Americans then came and took him to Kandahar. "I was tortured both physically and mentally. They cut off my beard, since they knew it would irritate all Muslims, and gave me electric shock treatment to get me to talk.
