Red Cross Parade Of 2,000
Field Marshal Lord Chetwode, Vice-Chairman of the British Red Cross Society, takes the salute from a procession of nurses during a parade of 2,000 officers and members of senior and youth detachments of the London County Branch of the British Red Cross Society at Birdcage Walk in London. The officer in charge of the parade was Mrs O.S. Prentice (County Director), and the band of the Grenadier Guards was present. Following a religious drumhead service taken by the Deputy Chaplain General (London District) and Chaplain to the Brigade of Guards (the Rev. D.P. Lowe), the members, all of whom have served in London throughout the war and are representative of every London Borough, marched out of Wellington Barracks by the Rear Gate, thence by Buckingham Gate into Birdcage Walk.
