Peace light from Bethlehem in the German Bundestag

17 December 2018, Berlin: In the German Bundestag, a delegation of German scouts hands over the peace light from Bethlehem to Claudia Roth (r, Bündnis 90/Die Grünen), deputy president of the Bundestag. Since 1986, the "Friedenslicht", an initiative of the Austrian Broadcasting Corporation (ORF), has been lit every year in the weeks before Christmas by an Upper Austrian child in the Nativity Grotto of Jesus. From Bethlehem, the light travels by plane in an explosion-proof lamp to Vienna. From there it will be sent on the third weekend of Advent to many places in Austria and most European countries.
