Billy Conn Scrambling After Blow from Joe Louis

Challenger Billy Conn, of Pittsburgh, is shown down in first round of scheduled fifteen round heavyweight title bout with Joe Louis at the Polo Grounds. This "down" was only a slip. Conn dropped without being hit, and was up before referee Eddie Josephs could wave Joe to a neutral corner. Between this round and the thirteenth when Conn was knocked out by Joe Louis, the champion had one of the toughest fights of his career.
