Slovak Republic - European Capital of Culture in 2013
A communist-era memorial in the city of Kosice, in the Slovak Republic. The city, which lies in eastern Slovakia is the country's second largest after Bratislava and has been announced as European Capital of Culture in 2013, along with Marseille, France. Kosice was the seat of the Kosice Region, home to the Slovak Constitutional Court, three universities and many museums, galleries and theaters as well as an important industrial center.
