Celadon octagonal bowl, Koryo dynasty, Korea, 1150-1200.
Celadon octagonal bowl, Koryo dynasty, Korea, 1150-1200. A celadon octagonal bowl with slightly flaring sides. There is faint moulded decoration of flowers in the interior and classic scroll around the interior rim. The exterior has eight incised floral sprays of seven or eight petalled daisy-like flowers. The fine blue/green even celadon glaze is very thick and full of bubbles, obscuring the moulded decoration in the interior and covering the entire piece including the shallow footrim. The base has 3 large silica chips. (Photo by Museum of East Asian Art/Heritage Images/Getty Images)
