SCOTLAND - MAY 06: Carron Iron Works near Falkirk was established in 1760 and became the largest smelting plant in Europe during the 19th Century. Carron made shells, cannons and later telephone kiosks and the famous cast iron fireplaces. The ubiquitous Carron , Falkirk insignia is in evidence around the world on thousands of man hole covers and other products that are still in use.
