Reconditioning Vittles Planes
(Original Caption) Bridge to Berlin. Vittles Planes --- At Burbank, the Vittles Planes get the same thorough going-over that they do at MacArthur Field. Here maintenance men at the Lockheed Terminal work on the exterior of a mammoth plane in foreground, with several other planes lined up on the field in varying degrees of reconditioning. The Vittles planes which are subjected to hard usage on the airlift, are in need of a thorough washing inside and out to eliminate the coal dust and dirt, which solidifies into a crusty black surface.
