Kabul embassy attack, aftermath
[UNVERIFIED CONTENT] An Afghan policeman holds up a hand grenade which was discovered under the body of a dead insurgent, in a building used to launch an attack on the US embassy and Nato's headquarters in Kabul, on Sept 14, 2011. At least six insurgents stormed the half-built highrise just after midday on Sept 13, 2011, sparking a 20 hour running gun battle which saw them survive snipers on board Black Hawk helicopters, strafing from an Afhgan Mi-35 gunship and an blasts from an Apache canon. Afghan intelligence officials blamed the Haqqani network, which they said has close links with Pakistan's Inter Services Intelligence agency (ISI).
