Scene from "The Song of Hiawatha (Chapter X. Hiawatha's Wooing)" - a long poem in the form of an epic, written by Henry Wadsworth Longfellow (1807-1882). It tells of the life of the Ojibwe warrior Hiawatha, who lived in the 16th century and the tragedy of his love for Minnehaha, a Dakota woman. Chromolithograph, based on a drawing by Franz Xaver Simm (Austrian painter and illustrator, 1853 - 1918), published in 1888.
