NEW ZEALAND, South Island: A group of climbers join the effort to keep the stranded whales damp and cool at Farewell Spit, South Island, New Zealand. Hundreds of pilot whales that swam into the shallow waters of a New Zealand bay at Farewell Spit on February 10, 2017 died after they got stuck in the waterway and beached themselves on the coastline.
