USA - Tourism - The Trinity Site

Tourists visit the Trinity Site, which is where the US military first detonated the world's first atom bomb in July of 1945, located on the White Sands Missile Band in the desert of New Mexico. Because it is still an active military site, the location is only open twice a year to visitors, on the first Saturdays of April and October. On those days, tourists of increasing numbers have come to look at the location, which is marked by a simple monument within a fence in the desert.
