The construction of the two Taishan nuclear power plants involves a 6 billion euro investment and 16 000 workers, and is managed by the joint French-Chinese venture Taishan Nuclear Power Joint Venture Company (TNPJVC), which is owned 70% by Chinese energy giant CGNPC and 30% by the French state-owned electricity company EDF. China, whose energy production is dominated by a 70 % use of coal, is the country in the world currently building the most nuclear plants.
