SRI LANKA-UNREST-TRANSPORT-ECONOMY
Sri Lankan President Mahinda Rajapakse raises both hands to acknowledge cheers at the rebuilt Jaffna railway station on October 13, 2014, as he arrives to officiate the resumption of rail services to the war-battered region after nearly 25 years. Sri lanka rebuilt the railway network after crushing Tamil Tiger rebels who had ripped the existing tracks to build bunkers. The train line to Colombo, a distance of nearly 400 kilometres (250 miles) is being reopened after being shut for 24 years because of fighting between Tamil rebels and security forces.
