Rohingya Children Hope For New Life In Malaysia's Schools

PENANG, MALAYSIA - FEBRUARY 1: Rohingya boys and girls from various age and level of education join a basic mathematic language class in a community school run by a local NGO on February 1st, 2017 in Penang, Malaysia. Malaysia, which has been been a strong critic against human-rights abuses on Rohingya Muslims, is seen as one of the last safe havens for the Rohingya ethnic minority. According to reports, the muslim country hosts more than 40,000 Rohingya refugees and aims to donate another 10 million ringgit ($2.25 million) for humanitarian aid and social projects in Rakhine as Malaysia's Prime Minister Najib Razak recently called on Muslim countries to lead international action over the plight of Myanmar's Rohingya Muslims. As waves of Rohingya civilians have fled across the border since October last year, additional schemes aim to give work to Rohingya refugees in Malaysia and assist them in starting a new life abroad.
