Eid ul Adha Festival Generates Brisk Business in Animal Skins

Muslim countries produce the highest number of raw hides during the Eid ul Adha (Feast of the Sacrifice). With the Sacrificing of animals on the eve of Eid, millions of raw hides, mostly from sheep, goat and other bovine animals are prepared. The trade generates billions of dollars drives the raw material need of the footwear industry, where most of the hides are utilized after tanning. The State of Jammu and Kashmir, a Muslim majority state, also produces three million hides from different animals annually, with some two hundred thousand hides made ready on Eid.
