Torchlight Procession In Remembrance Of Murdered Police Officer
ALBERTSLUND, DENMARK - DECEMBER 11: People gather at a torchlight procession in remembrance of murdered police officer December 11, 2016 in Albertslund, Denmark. Police officer Jesper Jul was loading his patrol car at the Police Yard when he shot from behind and to the head at point blank range with a 22 caliber pistol on December 6th in Albertslund, a suburb of Copenhagen. Officer Jul died the next day due to his injuries at the Government Hospital. The alleged perpetrator - a member of a local shooting club who allegedly and unlawfully did not give back a hand gun after practicing the evening before - was arrested half an hour after the shooting and taken into custody. The killing has caught the attention of several political parties who are demanding a police clearance certificate for shooting club members. The 43 year-old policeman, who is survived by his fiancée and 2 small children, will be buried at a state funeral service at Roskilde Cathedral on December 16th.
