(HR) Instructor Margaret Chavez, shows students Alexis Scobie, 17, left and Hannah Pinto, 17, right, how to break out of a choke hold. Anne Diamond, who is a mother of a former student at Kent Denver Country Day School, created the Safe Chick's program which teaches senior high school girls ages 17-21 self-defense and awareness to protect them when they leave home for college. Officers and instructions from the Denver Police Academy teach the course. The four hour class has two hours of lecture and learning then 2 hours of hands on self defense work. The instruction uses techniques from Krav Maga, an art created by Israeli Defense Forces as the most effective way to quickly fend off an attacker. Helen H.
