Arrigoni, a 36-year-old member of the International Solidarity Movement (ISM), was found hanged in April 2011 in an abandoned house north of Gaza City after a radical salafist group had posted a video of him online and threatened to kill him unless Hamas released an unspecified number of their members, sending shock waves across Gaza and the community of international aid workers in the coastal territory where he had lived and worked for around three years.
