Coffins of 24 migrants who died after a fishing boat carrying migrants capsized off the Libyan coast, are laid in a tent on the helipad at Mater Dei Hospital in Malta on April 23, 2015, during an Inter Faith ceremony led by the Bishop of Gozo, Mario Grech (L), and the Imam Mohammed El Sadi (hidden), who read excerpts of the Bible and the Koran. Calls have mounted for a military response to the Mediterranean migrant crisis, but experts say such plans are totally unworkable and mark an attempt to militarise what should be a purely humanitarian problem. European leaders will gather in Brussels to discuss new strategies in the wake of the latest disaster on April 19, in which hundreds of migrants drowned when their boat capsized on the way from Libya to Italy.
